| MY BIOGRPAHY |
A little about me... By all accounts I started fishing with my grandpa on the New Jersey shore at the age of three. (I must have been infected then because it has been over thirty years that I've been passionate about fish and the water.) Growing up an hour north of New York city, I also had the opportunity to fish the many ponds, lakes and streams of the area. I started fly fishing at eleven by spooling my spinning reel with a double taper fly line my buddy PJ and I cut in half. Thankfully, my Dad bought me a glass fly rod combo. I was immediately addicted and have been passionate about fly fishing ever since. After college I moved to Cape Cod, MA and eventually ended up working in a couple of fly shops and guiding for striped bass and bluefish on the flats surrounding Cape Cod Bay. My love affair with the Keys really started then. I got engaged while wading a bonefish flat off Marathon (my wife loves to fish too) and was married the following year on the water at sunset in almost the same location. After one too many New England winters , my wife and I decided to pull the trigger and move to Islamorada. Now I live in paradise. |
| Fishing with me... I love to sight fish with my customers. It doesn't matter if it's with bait, artificial or fly, I enjoy poling the boat and hunting for fish. There are easier and sometimes more effective ways to fish but for me, none are as exciting or satisfying. Of course there are days when sight fishing is impossible but if I had to choose a favorite, sight fishing would be it. I particularly like using artificials and especially flies. Fooling a fish into eating a "fake" is angling. Putting a chunk of mullet on the bottom is fishing. There is a difference. One requires a certain amount of skill or a willingness to learn on the part of the angler, the other does not. For me, a day on the water is the entire experience. It's the scenery, the anticipation, the hunt, the teamwork, the cast, the hookup and the laughs. It all really boils down to having a good time, fish or no fish, rain or shine. |
